Go for Lunch! Kagurazaka area

ランチツアー! 神楽坂

Wednesday, October 7th  12:30-13:50 in Kagurazaka

If you like donburi, you will certainly be fond of hitsumabushi. Hitsumabushi is a kind of donburi with 3 ways to taste it! You can enjoy the rice and the meat as it is, try your dish with various toppings and finally, add a lightly seasoned soup and eat all together! Let’s go for lunch together and explore Iidabashi-Kagurazaka district! We will advise you some of the top restaurants of the area.

Zazen Experience


Saturday, October 10th 15:00-17:00 in Nakano, Tokyo

Have you ever wondered what life would be like in a Japanese temple? Have you tried Zazen meditation?
Ijima sensei, who is from the family of the temple master at temple “Souseiji”, kindly offered to open her home to Coto Academy students! Not only will she give us the chance to experience zen meditation, but Ijima sensei will also show us around the inside of the temple. Do not miss this great opportunity to meet her father, the chief priest of Souseiji Temple, and to ask him everything you have ever wanted to know about the temple lifestyle, Japanese zen, Buddhism, Japanese history…
Let’s enjoy this incredible experience together!

In this event, we will create an oshi-zushi design that is a real eye-pleaser. Once you’ve learned how to make it, it is easy to make this dish at home too. We can create interesting designs based on your ideas! We look forward to seeing you at this event.

Japanese Calligraphy Class

Have you ever tried Japanese calligraphy?

This month, we will hold a Japanese calligraphy class with Wakana Shingae, a professional shodo artist! After an introduction to Japanese calligraphy, you will practice writing 3 seasonal Kanji characters. Finally, using a special calligraphy board, you will write your favorite character and take it home as a souvenir!

Monjayaki Night! in Tsukishima, Tokyo

もんじゃ焼きナイト 東京 月島

Saturday, October 24th 19:00-21:30 in Tsukishima

Have you heard about monjayaki? It is the kantô way of preparing okonomiyaki, a kind of runny pancake with different ingredients, such as seafood, meat and vegetables, mixed into the batter and cooked on an ironpan. What is awesome with this dish is that you prepare yourself as you like!

Tsukishima – litteraly the “moon island”,  is a special part of Tokyo shitamachi wellknown for this unique speciality, as you can find no less than 70 monja yaki restaurants in its popular Nishinaka Street.

Let’s have a fun night together and discover how to prepare monjayaki!
