Kagurazaka is beloved for its lingering Edo period atmosphere.
Each month, there are lunch tours to places in immediate walking distance from Coto. In November, we will visit the old restaurant Torijaya, famed for its “udonsuki.”This tour’s feature will be hot pot with udon as centerpiece. The pot will be brimming with chicken, vegetables, and shrimp. Everyone can share this dish. The sharing of hot pot itself is an element of Japanese culture. Let’s experience it together!

Get the chance to practice your speaking with 20 Japanese native speakers and to chat about many topics in Japanese. During English speaking time… it will be your turn to be a teacher!

Would you like to spend a peaceful Autumn night listening to the beautiful sound of Japanese traditional instruments?
For the first time, Coto Japanese Academy is holding a concert and has the honor of welcoming a musician/composer, Mister Tanabe Akira. This shamisen master not only plays traditional music, but also jazz, pop and he has even composed original video game soundtracks. You are welcome to ask questions about the shamisen and Japanese music!
☆Do not miss this unique opportunity! ☆
If you are a musician or singer, you are welcome to participate! Bring your instrument and enjoy performing before the Shamisen concert! But please let us know in advance.

Japanese Calligraphy Class

Have you ever tried Japanese calligraphy?
Wakana Shingae, a professional shodo artist will join us to teach a special Japanese calligraphy class. The class will consist of a basic introduction to Japanese calligraphy and practice writing three seasonal Kanji characters. Then, you can write one of the Kanji characters using a special calligraphy board and take it home as a souvenir!

Mt.Nokogiri Hiking and Onsen trip! on Sunday, November 29th

Why don’t you go hiking with us and enjoy the beautiful momiji season? Every year, in November and May, Coto Academy invites our students to go hiking and discover the natural beauty of Japan.
This November, let’s explore Chiba’s Mount Nokogiri and enjoy its incredible view of the ocean. Did you know? Nokogiri is very famous for its unusual summit and blade shaped cliffs.
Let’s hike together on Sunday and relax in hot springs afterwards.

-Fee: 6000yen (includes transportation and onsen entrance fee)
