Go for Lunch! Kagurazaka area
Thursday, January 7th 12:30-13:50 in Kagurazaka
Let’s go for lunch together and explore the Iidabashi-Kagurazaka district! We will advise you about some of the top restaurants in the area and bring you to the very nice Shozantei restaurant. Why don’t you try the Hitsumabushi, a kind of donburi with 3 ways to taste it! You can enjoy the rice and the meat as it is, or try your dish with various toppings and finally, add a lightly seasoned soup and eat it all together!

Special Cooking Class
Saturday, January 16th 11:00-13:30 in Yotsuya
Why not learn Japanese home cooking with a professional instructor? Which Japanese dish do you prefer? Did you try to cook something before? This year, we will open a special cooking class to offer you the chance to learn how to cook the famous Teriyaki chicken, tamagoyaki and healthy miso soup. Do not miss the chance to learn how to prepare popular Japanese dishes!

Japanese Calligraphy Class
Tuesday, January 19th 12:40-13:55 in Coto Japanese Academy 1F
Have you ever tried Japanese calligraphy? Wakana Shingae, a professional shodo artist will join us to teach a special Japanese calligraphy class. The class will consist of a basic introduction to Japanese calligraphy and we will practice writing three seasonal Kanji characters. Then, you can write one of the Kanji characters using a special calligraphy board and take it home as a souvenir!

New Year’s Party – Standing bar night

Special tour! Discover the culture of sento & Japanese bath!
☆During the tour, you will not enter the bath☆
When thinking about Japanese baths, you have certainly heard about onsens. But do you know the wonderful culture of Japanese sento? Those public baths are not only renowned for their health and relaxation benefits, but also for their incredible artwork! Stephanie, a French specialist who recently became a sento ambassador, has created the perfect tour for Coto students to explore the prettiest sentos, meet their owners and take pictures! It is a unique chance for you to discover a culture that even Japanese are not aware of!
Let’s meet in Ootaku to have a tour of 2 sentos: after a short explanation of the sento culture, you will be able to ask questions to their owners and discover more about their lives, to see the machinery and to take rare pictures!
☆After the tour, the participants willing to enjoy hot bath will be welcome to go to a third sentô☆
