Join Local festival and Omikoshi experience in Iidabashi

Are you up for the Omikoshi challenge with the locals?
The Tsukudo-jinja Shrine Festival is held mid-September in Iidabashi Chiyoda Ward. Every year, Coto offers you the chance to participate and to discover the taste of a local cultural event.
Grab this unique experience to share a Japanese traditional event with the community. Put on a happi (short jacket) and carry an Omikoshi (a portable shrine) like a Japanese! Enjoy the festival day with the locals of Iidabashi, eager to share their culture with foreigners.

Have you ever tried Japanese calligraphy?
Wakana Shingae, a professional shodo artist will join us to teach a special Japanese calligraphy class. The class will consist of a basic introduction to Japanese calligraphy and practice writing three seasonal Kanji characters. Then, you can write one of the Kanji characters using a special calligraphy board and take it home as a souvenir!

Get the chance to practice your speaking with 20 Japanese native speakers and to chat about many topics in Japanese. During English speaking time… it will be your turn to be a teacher!

Get to know Japan! This time, let’s discover Osaka’s taste at Kushi Katsu Tanaka!
Speaking of Osaka, “takoyaki” (たこ焼) and “okonomiyaki” (お好み焼) are well-known. But the real star is the kushi katsu! It’s a typical dish for a “B kyuu gourmet” person: dishes that are delicious, inexpensive and provided in abundant amounts.
Everyone, let’s enjoy Osaka’s delicious food in a kushikatsu restaurant together! Our teacher Shimizu Emiko, from Osaka will introduce this region to you in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

This lesson will be held in a restaurant in Ginza, where a professional sushi chef will teach participants how to make “Nigiri Sushi.”
Sushi can be a rather hard dish to make casually at home – so how about learning how to make authentic sushi under the guidance of a professional? You’ll even get a certificate after everything too!
