8 Baby-friendly Ryokan in Japan

Ever heard of a ryokan (旅館)? It is an experience not to be missed when in Japan! If you are planning to bring your baby along for a trip to ryokan, it is definitely worth considering one that is baby-friendly. Some hotels do not allow infants in the rooms, so it is better to check beforehand to avoid getting rejected when you have already arrived. It will also be easier as baby-friendly ryokan tends to provide the basic necessities such as diapers and toys, helping to lessen the number of items you have to bring.

Some Things to Consider When Finding Baby-friendly Ryokan in Japan

Safety is definitely a priority. It is important to take note of the room space, to ensure that babies cannot injure themselves if they are able to move around. Do also take note of things the baby would require, such as bath, bed, and meals.

While a lot of hotels or ryokan might be kid-friendly, they’re not necessarily baby-proof. New parents know the key to having a (less) stressful trip with their baby doesn’t just lie in big spaces. Besides that, amenities and baby supplies are important — but bringing them around Japan is a hassle.

This is why when searching for the right ryokan in Japan, think about this: do they provide baby utensils? Baby meals? Or even cribs? Are they available for rent, are they free — or are they available at all?

Be sure to check if they provide baby cribs, baby baths, baby chairs and baby utensils (and free diapers)!
