What is ばかり, ばかりいる Bakari / Bakari Iru in English?

In this video we introduce how to use the JLPT N3 Grammar Point – Bakari / Bakari iru ばかり, ばかりいる
In English – if someone does something habitually or if there is a constant condition of something – we can say that they “only do something” or that someone “Always” does something”.
Bakari is used to describe something negatively in a critical way
“You only watch tv.”  “If you only eat sweets and don’t exercise you will lose your health.” “I ate nothing but vegetables for two weeks”
Bakari is the Japanese way to say “always” or “nothing but”.

Example Sentences for Bakari ばかり, ばかりいる:

「テレビを見てばかりいる」
Terebi o mite bakari iru.
“I’m only/always watching TV.”
最近お酒ばかり飲んでいたからふとりました。
Sakin, osake bakari nonde ita kara futorimashita.
I gained weight because I’ve only been drinking alcohol recently.
