Japanese Job Interviews can be fun, exciting, and some of the time stressful or scary depending on the environment and how well you are prepared.  When you interview with a Japanese company – one thing is certain – if the interview is in Japanese, the interviewer will be looking to see how well you can speak Japanese. This is a great opportunity for you as a candidate to impress them by using certain phrases that will give them the impression that you are a capable speaker of Japanese.

The following phrases will help you to sound natural and competent to your Japanese Interviewer.

1. Thank you for taking time to meet with me today.

本日はお時間をいただき、ありがとうございます。
Kyo wa o-jikan o itadaki, arigato gozaimasu.

2. I’m a quick learner.

仕事を覚えるのは早い方だと思います。

3. I’ve worked in this field for many years.

この分野なら、長年の経験があります。
Kono Bun-ya nara, naganen no keiken ga arimasu.

4. I’ve brought my portfolio, if you’d like to see it.

これまでの実績をまとめた資料を持参しました。こちらです。
