Personal profile

Always wanting to become a Japanese teacher, Yoko Hasegawa first studied Japanese teaching methodology at a junior college in Japan. After that, she received her Bachelor's degree in Linguistics in the United States. She also earned a master’s degree in Linguistics specializing in language teaching. She went on to teach Japanese at a university in Hawaii until she returned to Japan in 2019.

She has previously worked for a company that provides English and study abroad programs. She was in charge of building curriculum and activities for English programs. She joined Coto in October 2021. Her past experiences help her engage with students — something she loves ever since she first started teaching.

Personal statement

"I am always amazed by the amount of effort Coto students put in learning Japanese while they are busy working and doing other responsibilities. Looking at them, I want to help them have a fulfilling life in Japan. I try my best to provide a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment. For this, I make sure to welcome everyone with a big smile and extend a hand when they need it."
