In this blog we will show you what “Naruhodo” means in Japanese and how to use it in conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

What Does “Naruhodo” Mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u306a\u308b\u307b\u3069<\/mark> Naruhodo<\/em> means “I understand” or “I see.” While you may have often heard that “Soudesuka” (\u305d\u3046\u3067\u3059\u304b<\/mark>) or “Sokka” (\u305d\u3063\u304b<\/mark>) is how to say ‘I see,’ it is slightly different from Naruhodo<\/em> (\u306a\u308b\u307b\u3069<\/mark>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While sokka<\/em> or soudesuka<\/em> certainly can be used to say ‘I see’, \u306a\u308b\u307b\u3069<\/mark><\/em> adds an extra nuance. Soudesuka\/sokka<\/em> is more neutral, while \u306a\u308b\u307b\u3069<\/mark><\/em> conveys a sense of agreement and a more nuanced understanding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can use \u306a\u308b\u307b\u3069<\/mark><\/em> when you learn something new or get information that you did not previously have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
