Nanae Ikeda

During university - Nanae majored in Japanese history.  She also studied abroad for a year and a half focusing on language studies at Chinese Culture university in Taiwan.

She began her career in Japanese language teaching in 1995 and gained teaching experience in Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan.  She has experience lecturing on Japanese language teacher training courses and as a curriculum coordinator for the launch of Japanese language schools.

In her free time - Nanae enjoys traditional Japanese pursuits such as tea ceremony, flower arranging, playing the koto and wearing kimono.

 

"I am always thinking about what “being a teacher” means.  With so many self-study tools available - (books, apps, videos)  - a true teacher will need a wide range of knowledge about the Japanese language in order to better serve their students.  I think about this often and am devoted to improving myself as a teacher every day."
