    Teacher's Profile

Naoto Sugawara majored in Educational Psychology at university and took an MBA at Claremont University in the United States.

According to him, "Knowing other languages allows you to talk and listen to more people, and you will be able to access more information. However, I know that is not your ultimate goal. Your goal might be to find a better job, watch Japanese anime, get along with your Japanese partner or enter college." This is why Sugawara-sensei puts great importance in your own goal. Without it, you'll lose the motivation to study Japanese.

FAQ

  • What textbooks and Japanese course material do you use?

We use a mix of our in-house materials, Coto's self-published Nihongo Fun and Easy and other trusted textbooks and workbooks like Genki
  • Do I need specific equipment to take online courses?

Online courses are mostly conducted via Zoom, so you should have an up-to-date web browser such as: Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Internet Explorer. We strongly encourage you to have access to a desktop or laptop computer and a reliable internet connection for certain Japanese lesson components.
  • How many students can I expect in group Japanese lessons?

To learn Japanese in the most effective way, we limit a Japanese lesson to 8 students. This allows you to participate in more conversations and receive ample support from our professional language teachers.
  • How do I select online lessons?

You can visit the course catalog to browse our part-time and lite intensive Japanese classes. In addition to searching by course duration and availability, you can also search by subject to ensure you find a course that reflects your interests.    Alternatively, you can fill out our contact form for a free course consultation, or reach out to us at [email protected] with some information on your background and what you hope to learn. We can then provide some personalized course advisement.
  • What is the difference between online intensive, part-time and lite intensive classes?

In an intensive online course, you'll learn Japanese five days a week for a month. A lite intensive course is a two-day-per-week course, with a total of four 50-minute sessions. Our current part-time Japanese lessons meet weekly too, but it puts a stronger focus on conversation practices. Lite intensive and intensive course is a more traditional “course”  that covers many aspects of the Japanese language.
